FAQs
No, we are not permitted to deliver to the river or pick up from there, due to the fact that we are a self guide equipment rental company. You will meet at our store front conveniently located a few minutes from the park and there we will provide you with padded racks and straps and load the equipment onto your vehicle, instructing you "How to" every step of the way. When you are finished with the fun, you will load them back up onto your vehicle as instructed and return them back to the store location.
We include padded roof racks and straps for the transport, as well as, life jackets for all and a complimentary dry bag for each piece of equipment.
We do not charge per person. We charge per kayak. Our double kayaks can be easily converted into a single, so whether you choose a double or a single, it is $125 plus taxes and fees per kayak. Our paddle boards are $54 a piece for the 6 hour river reservation.
We do not recommend taking children under 6 years old, however, we tend to leave these decisions at the discretion of the parent/guardians. You know your child the best! Our liability waivers must always include all minors (anyone under the age of 18) on the adult waivers responsible for the minor, including their ages. We provide all size life vests from infant, child, youth up to adult. We do however require that you keep the safety vests on children at all times.
All of our reservations are 6 hours, which gives you plenty of time to do the trip without feeling crunched for time. Once you arrive at the state park, find a parking spot, unload and launch from the boat ramp, you are looking at a 2 mile paddle, which takes about 45 minutes at a calm, relaxing speed. The river itself is big, calm and peaceful. Once you park the equipment at the landing beach, the hike to Secret Falls is about a mile and will take about 45 minutes at a nice relaxing pace. Depending on how long you spend at the waterfall swimming, snacking, and exploring, the roundtrip is usually about 3.5-4 hours. If you should decide to visit the Fern Grotto as well, you can add on about another hour. It is absolutely worth it!
We do not recommend swimming in the larger portion of the river, but there is good swimming beyond the forks (both on the left and right sides) bring a towel because you can definitely swim at the waterfall. There is also a swimming hole right past Fern Grotto.
We recommend you bring water and snacks and a towel if you plan to swim. Many people will bring a small lunch to eat at the falls. A small cooler will fit on the kayak. We suggest wearing water/hike shoes for the hike. Do not wear your favorite because your feet will get wet and/or muddy in areas. We have a small retail store at the pickup location where we rent water/hike shoes for $9 a pair. We also provide last minute things you may forget such as sunglasses, drinks, insect repellant, sun block, waterproof phone cases, etc.
